Start of studies and Admission

When applying for a course of study with restricted admission, prospective students with disabilities and chronic illnesses can submit special applications through the Foundation for University Admissions or at a university to help compensate for disadvantages caused by their disability or illness.

Degree programs with limited admission at the University of Bayreuth:

Sports Economics (B.Sc.); German-Spanish Bachelor's Program in Law, LL.B.; and German-French Bachelor's Program in Law, LL.B.

Regelation in hardship casesHide

Disabled and chronic ill prospective students, who are in a  serious exceptional situation, can apply for a hardship application, to participate in the administration procedure within the hardship quota.

Should there be special health circumstances which require an immediate admission, you are required to provide a specialist medical report.  Special health circumstances can be a progressed illness or disability, which make a longer waiting time unreasonable, and/or if the the chosen study programm or study location will grant a successful (re-)integration.

A personal application is always required, which clearly  showcases the motivation for the success of the  course of study. The ranking is determined by the degree of personal hardship.

Admission with disadvantage compensationHide

If there is no hardship case at hand, you can apply for a disadvantage compensation. This has to be completed until the application deadline. Essentially, two types of apllications can be made:

1)Application for the improvement of the average grade:

This application must be made if it can be credibly demonstrated that the average grade is worse than it would have been without the impairment. Additionally to the specialist medical report you will also be asked to provide a school report, which displays how your personal situation has impacted your school performance and which grade could have been possibly archieved.

2)Appplication for the shortening of the waiting period:

This application should be made if the potential student was through no fault of their own unable to complete the Abitur to an earlier date. This has to be credibly supported through a specialist medical report as well as a school report.

Allocation of study places via the Foundation for University Admissions:

With Study places allocated over the central plattform hochschulstrat.de, disabled and/or chronically ill students have the opportunity to submit the special applications listed below. The respective applications have to be completetd with certified  copies of school certificates, a detailed school report as well as medical attestations, which prove the respective issues. Please be mindful of further information given on the plattform.

Hardship application (immediate administration to study)- special application D:Hide

The foundation for university admission reserves 2% of the study places available via the platform for so-called hardship cases in which immediate admission to study is required. In individual cases, a hardship case may aslo arise due to disability and/or chronic illness.

Application of disadvantage compensation (NC)- special application E: Hide
